Conference Keynote Speaker: Prof. Gilles Kepel

Prof. Gilles Kepel will deliver the Keynote Address at the Seventeenth Annual ASMEA Conference in Washington, D.C. titled "Holocausts: Israel, Gaza and the War Against the West." 

Gilles Kepel is Professor and Chair of the Middle East and Mediterranean Studies at Ecole Normale Superieure, Paris, France. A political scientist and an Arabist, he studied in Damascus and Cairo, taught at Columbia University, New York University, the London School of Economics, and l’Universita della Svizzera Italiana. His research field covers political Islamist movements in the Middle East and North Africa and Islam in the West.

Among his more than twenty books, he published the seminal Muslim extremism in Egypt: the Prophet and the Pharaoh; The Revenge of God; Allah in the West; Jihad: The Trail of Political Islam; Away from Chaos. His books were translated in more than a dozen languages.
 

He served as Special Envoy for Pdt Macron in 2022.
