The history of Iraqi Jewry dates back more than 2,600 years. The Jewish community in Iraq is one of the oldest and most storied in the world. A century ago, Iraqi Jews were nearly a third of Baghdad’s population. Today, only three individuals remain. With an emphasis on the last half century, this presentation will cover the history of Iraq's Jews up to the present day.

Michael Brill is a PhD candidate in the Department of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University, where his research focuses on modern Iraq. For the current academic year, he is a fellow at the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies, along with the Princeton Center for Culture, Society, and Religion.
